Progress Conference 2024: Toward Abundant Futures

  • Berkeley, California (map)

The progress movement, which advocates for scientific, technological, and economic advancements to benefit humanity, has seen significant growth in recent years. Concepts such as the "abundance agenda," "techno-optimism," "supply-side progressivism," and "American dynamism" have emerged, reflecting a shared vision of a bold and flourishing future. Despite this momentum, the movement has yet to establish a regular gathering to bring together its community—until now.

Progress Conference 2024

This two-day event, scheduled for October 18–19, 2024, in Berkeley, California, aims to connect individuals passionate about progress. Hosted by the Roots of Progress Institute in collaboration with the Foresight Institute, HumanProgress.org, the Institute for Humane Studies, the Institute for Progress, and Works in Progress magazine, the conference will offer a unique opportunity to meet like-minded people, exchange ideas, and catalyze new projects.

Conference Highlights:

  • Speakers: The conference will feature keynotes from prominent figures like Patrick Collison, Tyler Cowen, Jason Crawford, and Steven Pinker. In addition, around 20 other speakers will cover topics across four tracks: the big idea of human progress, policy for progress, tech for progress, and storytelling/media for progress.

  • Attendees: The event expects to host over 200 intellectuals, builders, policymakers, storytellers, and students. While the conference is invitation-only, interested individuals can apply for an invitation by completing an open application by July 15th.

  • Program: The program includes a mix of talks, workshops, and interactive sessions designed to inspire and energize participants. Attendees can engage in deep conversations, build relationships, and explore new ideas in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The event also offers the chance to participate in unconference sessions, where participants can run their own discussions on topics of shared interest.
